Week 6! After a week of football rife with gambles that didn’t pay off, the Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans, have whiffed in every single game and now sit at a collective 0-15.
What else did we learn in week 5? Surprisingly, it turns out that if you punch someone in the face while wearing an NFL uniform, the only consequence is a one-game suspension.
Don’t take that as legal advice, but it seems to be true.
Oh yes. The NFL is a league of deception and broken promises. Heading into the new season, we saw teams hide their true colors behind hope, big-name trades, draft picks and new coaching hires.
A few are better than expected!
Most are not…
For example, the L.A. Rams were pegged as the league’s best-built, best-coached team. In reality, they’re not even the second-best in their own division.
And speaking of “true colors,” Tyreek Hill is available, and he’s an excellent wide receiver. So now we wait to see which NFL franchise is willing to sign a player with a history of beating up pregnant women to their roster.
Interesting.
Let’s do the Pix!
Week 5 Record: 8 – 7
Thursday Night Football
Seattle @ Denver: By publishing time, we’ll know if that week 5 loss to the division-rival 49ers served as a wake-up call for the reigning champion Seahawks, who, at the time of this writing, had dropped 2 of their last 3 contests.
I don’t anticipate that an angry Seahawks team will have issues “dialing in” and moving the ball downfield against a beat-up Denver defense.
And for you Colorado Rockies fans, you’ll be pleased to know that the franchise has announced plans to set off fireworks after all one-base hits next season.
Pick – Seattle | Strength of Pick: 6 out of 14
Sunday
Houston @ Jacksonville: A win over a bottom-feeder like the Titans isn’t gonna do much to inflate the hopes of the 1-and-3 Texans; particularly any hope they have of turning their season around and possibly taking their division. Frankly, it serves them right.
Naming your team the “Houston Texans” just seems like a deliberate effort to celebrate the most racist state in the Union.
Pick – Jaguars | Strength of Pick: 8 out of 14
Bears @ Falcons: A plastic shopping bag accidentally blew inside the Chicago Museum of Modern Art and sold at auction for over $10 million. A review of security footage revealed that the bag blew into the museum after it slipped out of the hand of a homeless vagrant who had been using it to store clothes.
Pick – Bears | Strength of Pick: 5 out of 14
Ravens @ Browns: The 4-1 Ravens sit alone atop the AFC North. Meanwhile, Cleveland’s starting QB, Deshaun Watson, has played just well enough to NOT to get in the way of his team. That’s precisely why Baltimore is considered the favorite in this one.
Pick – Ravens | Strength of Pick: 11 out of 14
Titans @ Colts: After having been picked number one overall in the 2025 draft, Titans’ QB Cam Ward now sits with a 3 – 19 record as a starter. And the 0-and-5 Titans are slowly trending toward another #1 pick.
That has a lot of draft-eligible college QBs very worried about seeing their pro careers destroyed before they’ve even taken a snap as a professional.
The Colts? So far…the only group that’s been frustrated by the team’s defense is its own coaching staff.
This one doesn’t exactly shriek “playoff implications!”
Pick – Colts | Strength of Pick: 1 out of 14
Jets @ Patriots: Championship teams make big plays. That’s fortunate news for the Jets who shouldn’t feel compelled to make big plays anymore…
Pick – Patriots | Strength of Pick: 10 out of 14
Saints @ Giants: If the Jaxson Dart-less Giants hope to be relevant in the post-season, they’ll need to make the most of these remaining winnable games. That means they can’t afford to lose, or tie, any more of them.
Pick – Saints | Strength of Pick: 3 out of 14
Panthers @ Eagles: I’m done trying to figure out the Panthers until the Panthers figure out the Panthers.
The Eagles? Just trying to keep their heads above water. Nothing to see here. Let’s keep moving…
Pick – Eagles | Strength of Pick: 2 out of 14
Steelers @ Buccaneers: Can a Buccaneers team starting an undrafted rookie quarterback succeed against a Steelers QB who’s playing like a guy much younger than his birth certificate would suggest?
Pick – Steelers | Strength of Pick: 7 out of 14
Cardinals @ Rams: 454 yards of total offense wasn’t enough to beat the Bills last week, raising serious questions about Sean McVay’s 2-and-3 Rams.
Can the supposed “Super Team” of 2026 finally get it together against an Arizona squad that’s now lost 4 straight?
Pick – Rams | Strength of Pick: 14 out of 14
Chargers @ Chiefs: A game-turning gaffe to “go for it” on fourth-and-1 with 10 ½ minutes left in regulation sent the L.A. Chargers plummeting to an 0-5 start last week. It’s becoming too late to turn L.A.’s season around, and we haven’t even reached Halloween yet.
That’s not good.
Pick – Chiefs | Strength of Pick: 9 out of 14
Bills @ Raiders: As is often the case for the Bills, QB Josh Allen was the hero of last week’s tilt over the Rams, and he did a lot of damage with his legs…again. He won’t be able to do that every week, but the Bills are the safe pick today against the Raiders who essentially “no showed” against New England in week 5.
Pick – Bills | Strength of Pick: 12 out of 14
Cowboys @ Packers: Despite playing without a run game or offensive line, Jordan Love torched the Bears last week to the tune of nearly 400 yards through the air.
But the bigger story is about a Dallas defense we thought couldn’t possibly get any worse after 2025.
We were wrong.
An offseason overhaul of the coaching staff and roster, plus two first-round picks on defense, has now produced the following:
- Worst in Rushing Yards allowed per game
- Zero Interceptions
- Five total QB Sacks
No need for Green Bay to fight for their yards today. Better to go for easy downfield passes over the Cowboys’ terrible pass defense.
Pick – Packers | Strength of Pick: 4 out of 14
~ MNF ~
Commanders @ 49ers: After squandering a 14-point fourth-quarter lead, the Commanders inexplicably ran the clock out on themselves while within field-goal range and blew a chance to beat an NFC East rival – it’s safe to say that the vibes in Washington have reached “horror show” dimensions.
Not an ideal time to take on the undefeated 49ers in Santa Clara on prime-time television.
Pick – 49ers | Strength of Pick: 13 out of 14
Enjoy the Games | Love you Guys
